About Me

Prior to starting my counseling practice of 20 plus years, I worked as an elementary school teacher as well as spent 10 years in the corporate world.  I am originally from Michigan, but have spent over 25 years in the Dallas area.  My own experiences of trauma, grief, loss and chronic pain led me to counseling so that I can help others heal.

Passion

Life can be hard! Helping clients find their authentic self is my passion.  Anxiety, depression, abuse, addictions, grief, trauma, and more are things that can impede my clients from experiencing an abundant life. I will help traverse through these obstacles to find healing by looking at the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual impacts.

As a former teacher and parent, along with my training, I am able to help children find healing from abuse, navigate fears, find tools for ADD/ADHD and more.  I offer play therapy to assist children as they navigate trauma, change, anxiety to just name a few. Children have an even harder time than adults vocalizing their feelings and experiences.  Through play a child is able to process out their feelings as well as discover healthy coping tools.

First and foremost I strive to understand my client’s needs and help them come to a place where they have peace and joy. Finding ways to cope with and free themselves from negative thoughts, fears, pain and trauma through useful tools, self-talk, and changing thought patterns is vital for my clients. As we walk through the pains, struggles and frustrations of life, my clients are able to see themselves for who they are and who they want to be. Freedom, peace, self-confidence and joy are found.

I am a Christ Follower. At clients’ request, I incorporate prayer, scripture and a biblical perspective to our counseling sessions.

“Giving my clients tools and healthy coping mechanisms to free themselves from negative thoughts, fears, pain and trauma is the goal of therapy.  Using an electronic approach heavy on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps clients change their self-talk and thought patterns which can bring them freedom!”
